Bougainvillea, New Palm Tree and a Recipe

We had some really cold weather this year and the bougainvillea got a lot of frost damage and I was afraid we might lose them, but they made it just fine. They are blooming now and are so pretty and colorful ….see aren’t they beautiful!

Last week took out an oak tree and planted a new palm tree, it is a foxtail palm, isn’t it cute. It’s really windy today, that’s why it’s bunched up kinda funny. Hope he grows quick! I need to plant some other things in here after we dig up the old tree stump.

I thought I’d share one of our favorite recipes. This is an old one from Phil’s Mom and it is easy and Mmmmmmmm, good!

Just Plain Good Pot Roast

3-4 lb beef chuck roast
1 TBS Paprika
salt & pepper
2 TBS Wesson oil
1/2 cup water
8-10 small whole onions or 1 large onion chopped
8 carrots cut in half
2 - 8oz cans hunts tomato sauce
Trim excess fat from meat, sprinkle with paprika, salt and pepper.
Brown in oil, add water cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours until meat is tender.
Arrange veggies around meat, pour in Hunt's tomato sauce .
Cover, simmer 1 hour.

Makes 6 servings.
